I recently went to Carmel-by-the-Sea, California on another girls trip. This weekend adventure was only for two days. It’s important for my girlfriends and I to prioritize our time together which oftentimes means planning a weekend away for somebody’s birthday.
This trip was for my friend Jessica. She was celebrating her 40th so we did a BNB with her mother and closest girlfriends. It was my first time in Carmel, which is only a few hours from San Francisco and quite charming. With several beaches, lots of cottages, quaint shops and the friendliest people, we had a great time. I highly recommend taking a trip to Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Since our trip was short I did’t see as much as I would have liked to, but here are a few things I did enjoy that are a must-see if you are visiting. P.S. if you can take the scenic route up the coast through Big Sur.
My favorite attraction were the beaches. So you must add these beaches to your list if you are looking for a little R&R near the ocean. It can be chilly in Northern California when the sun is rising and setting so be sure to bring layers or a light blanket with you.
Best Beaches:
We did a lot of eating. My favorite was Hibachi night because it was family style and they put on a great performance for our group. Some of the other food we had and loved was seafood and Italian. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the restaurants in Carmel but here are a few bucket list fav’s to add to your list:
We spent most of our time dining out, enjoying spa time, wineries and beaches. If that sounds like you then be sure to checkout these resources where we found a list of places to explore. They were super helpful and did not disappoint.

After the birthday festivities ended I headed to Los Angeles for a quick day trip. I will be headed back to LA in a few months and hope to venture North again to explore some more things to see and do. I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop of all things So-Cal and Northern California when I venture back West! If you are headed that way enjoy your travels and stay connected via @lavi.travels on social media.
